Greetings Campers,
The time has come! Your brochure for the 2012 Midwest Unitarian Universalist Summer Assembly – MUUSA – will arrive shortly. Our dates this year: Sunday, July 1st to Saturday, July 7th, 2012. We invite you to register online at www.muusa.org, or by mail as soon as possible.
We welcome you back to our haven for families, couples and singles and to our retreat in the forests and rolling hills of the Missouri Ozarks at Trout Lodge, where you can participate in workshops and community activities or just dangle your toes in the lake.
New and repeated excursions this year include:
Pre-camp visit to St. Louis City Museum. From the website (www.citymuseum.org): Housed in the 600,000 square-foot former International Shoe Company, the museum is an eclectic mixture of children’s playground, funhouse, surrealistic pavilion, and architectural marvel made out of unique, found objects.”
Onondaga Cave State Park, a full afternoon trip to enjoy a walking tour through one of Missouri's beautiful caves.
River Float Trip. We are repeating our successful trip from last year! Spend a day floating down a nearby river.
New Accommodations Added: In addition to Lodge Rooms and Cabins, Camp Lakewood Cabins are now available. A single, rustic air-conditioned cabin is a lower cost option for families of three or more which include four large bedrooms with bunk beds, individual bathrooms and a shared living room. Two additional cabins (including one designated for women only) will be offered for single adults and includes shared bedrooms with bunk beds, shared bathrooms and common room.
Our 2012 theme speaker is Rev. Keith Kron, Director of the UUA’s Office of Ministerial Transitions, exploring “Once Upon a Time: The Stories Deep Within Us,” during our daily morning worship service.
Come and connect with your dear friends and welcome new campers. Together we’ll laugh and cry, sing, visit, and eat as we create a week long respite from the world around us.
