Workshops

We offer opportunities for learning and personal growth, although no workshop is intended as psychotherapy. All workshops are free, unless otherwise specified. Because leaders carefully structure their five-day workshops, your registration implies your daily participation. Spaces are assigned by date of registration postmark. Workshops with low enrollment may be cancelled by May 15. Junior & Senior Highers are welcome to attend most workshops. Please enter workshop codes on the registration form.

Early Afternoon Workshops: 1:35-3:35

E-1 Biblical Literacy for UU's: The Letters of Paul
Jim Crocker-Lakness
Paul of Tarsus has been revered as the first Christian missionary, vilified for his attitude toward women, and credited with inventing Christianity. Are these claims warranted? We will consider: who Paul was, what he really wrote, what his message meant in the first century, the role of women in his ministry, and his intellectual contribution to UUism. I will argue that Paul was the first Unitarian and the first Universalist in the Christian tradition and that modern UUism owes more to Paul than to Jesus. Prepare by reading 1Th, Rom, 1Co, Gal, Phi, Col, & Phlm.
5-day. Limit: none.

E-2 Continuing Tarot
Bjorg Prodan
Come study the tarot on a deeper level and enhance your knowledge of this divination tool. This workshop assumes an understanding of the tarot and seeks to explore relationships between the tarot and other belief systems. A large portion of this course will focus on tarot card combinations and their use in readings.
5-day. Limit: none.

E-3 Early Jewish Mysticism
Loren Wells
In times of turmoil and upheaval, many communities seek answers through the exegesis of their religious or spiritual figures. 1000 years before Kabbalah arose as the predominate strain of Jewish mysticism, writers of the rabbinic era posed deep and profound questions in the Talmud, a nearly 3,000-page work that forms the bulk of traditional Jewish belief. Interspersed among rulings of law and life are beautiful aggadot, narratives about historical figures and places that sometimes touch on the most complex and fascinating questions of life, death, and everything beyond. We will look at some of these stories, opening the floor to discussion about their relevance both in the past and the present. Everyone is encouraged to join, whatever your background may be, as nothing could breathe more life into this discussion than a room full of Unitarians.
3-day: Tue, Wed, Thur. Limit: none.

E-4 Laws of Attraction
Jessi Fehrenbach
We will learn how to understand and utilize the basic energetic laws of the universe to enhance life experience and deliberately attract greater abundance in love, prosperity, peace and success.
