Elementary Program

...a full week of camp life with programming, prepared meals, and a whole bunch of like-minded folks.

This year’s theme is the circus!

From 9:15 to 3 pm, children from first through fifth grade will engage in UU-centered, age-appropriate activities guided by our experienced and dedicated staff. Different learning styles and personalities of children will be considered so that everyone is engaged and no one feels left out.

Our MUUSA Circus Stars will learn about traditional circus skills from around the globe, including juggling, plate-spinning, devilsticks, diabolos, balancing, rolas, stilt walking, rolling globes, hula hoops, clowning and more.  We’ll explore the world of circus through creative learning, language arts and poetry, craft-making, art works, science and engineering, cultural arts, food preparation, cooperation, and practical life skills.

Of course, the most exciting part of circus camp is the creation of a spectacular circus production for family and friends.  Showcasing each camper’s new skills in an amazing spectacle, the circus show is not to be missed!

A typical day at MUUSA

Elementary age kids stay with their parents, so families have a lot to say about how their day starts! Most families will go to breakfast together and then attend the Morning Celebration.

About fifteen minutes into the Morning Celebration kids will be invited to join their counselors and head off to Circus Camp! They will spend the rest of the morning learning all the ins-and-outs of circus, then head to lunch with their parents.

After lunch, Circus continues until 3pm, at which point parents must pick up their children. Plenty of family friendly games and activities are available until dinner, and more after.

Families can then stroll the block or two into town to get an ice cream cone, or just hang out with friends. Intergenerational dances, sports and social events are often scheduled in the early evening.
