Young Adult Program
...a full week of camp life with programming, prepared meals, and a whole bunch of like-minded folks.
MUUSA is a place for spiritual reflection, intellectual growth, and creative play within a caring and supportive community. Many MUUSA Young Adults have been attending MUUSA since they were children; others have only attended for a few years. Together, MUUSA YAs have formed a vital, growing community of very different, yet like minded souls.
Young Adults can enjoy a the same long list of workshops and excursions as do other campers. Consider joining an Improv acting workshop! Never sung in a choir? Now's your chance! How about a guided hike through a newly restored prairie? Or maybe a trip to the nearby pub! Why not host an E gaming competition in the state-of-the-art gaming “stadium?”
All inclusive registration fees include housing, meals, workshops and other activities. Additional fees may be required for some workshops and excursions.
A typical day at MUUSA
Like other campers, YA’s can join in on early morning activities like bird watching, hikes, runs and other “wake me up” activities. Breakfast is served early, but coffee and snacks are always available.
An inspirational morning “celebration” starts each day, based on a week long theme chosen by the “theme speaker.” A bit like a rousing church service, the morning celebration starts the day with the Awesome Choir, congregational sing-alongs, reflection and fellowship. Many YA’s choose to join the Awesome Choir, which means they have a short rehearsal right after breakfast.
The day continues based on every camper’s own preferences. Some choose to plan their own day of hiking, relaxing, or just reading a book. Others fill their days with workshops, creative activities and excursions.
Previous workshops have included everything from Awesome Choir, Improv, to Tai Chi, beer tasting and cocktail making. There is never a shortage of “something to do.”
In recent years YA’s have enjoyed a game of ultimate frisbee or disc golf, but may want to tune up their pickleball or e-sports game.
Evenings often include multigenerational activities such a social hour, a nightly open-mic "Coffeehouse," games, the intergenerational “pun off” competition, and spiritual meetings.
